Ford Focus no more after 2025
By CARSIFU | 01 July 2022COLOGNE: Ford has confirmed that the Focus would end production in 2025.
Ford of Europe's chief Stuart Rowley said the fate of the Saarlouis plant in Germany where the Focus is produced is still up in the air.
The plant which employs 4,600 workers might even be sold to other manufacturers, he said, adding that there would be major job cuts in the last days of the Focus.
As Ford transitions to making electric vehicles, Rowley said fewer workers are required.
Ford has already retired the Mondeo in April after 30 years of production at its plant in Valencia, Spain.
While the Focus will be dropped in three years time in most parts of the world, it may continue to be sold in China, along with the Mondeo. Both models are assembled in China for the local market.
