KUALA LUMPUR: The seven-seater, all-electric Volvo EX90 flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV) and its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) counterpart – the new, facelifted XC90 - are expected to be priced around RM450,000.
In a statement, Volvo Car Malaysia says bookings have opened for both SUVs, and further details of trim level and vehicle specifications will be announced.
Pre-booking can be done at https://90-90.volvocarmalaysia.com.
Malaysia is one of the first Asia Pacific markets to introduce the Volvo EX90 after Thailand’s launch last year.
Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Chris Wailes said, "With the imminent introduction of the Volvo EX90 and new XC90 for Malaysia, we are making good progress towards our global ambitions of 90% to 100% electrified car sales before the end of the decade. Last year, BEV (battery electric vehicle) and PHEV models already made up more than 80% of our sales.”
“The EX90 is a compelling addition to our current BEV portfolio of compact SUVs as it represents an option for owners who require more space, luxury, comfort and technology in a powerful, fully electric package,” Wailes added.

Carsifu.my got up close with the EX90 recently in a photoshoot at Volvo Car Malaysia's office in Petaling Jaya.
The twin-motor, all-wheel drive unit featured in the photoshoot came with 21-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres sized 265/45 (front) and 295/40 (rear), as well as a Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio system, plus head rest-integrated speakers for immersive sound.
There's a 14.5-inch tablet-style centre touchscreen for the infotainment system.
The EX90 had its world debut in November 2022, and offers a driving range of up to 600km (WLTP test cycle) on a single charge, a century sprint of less than five seconds, as well as powered folding seats to expand luggage space at a touch of a button.
It charges from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, and is powered by a 111kWh battery and two permanent magnet electric motors together delivering in its performance version 380kW (517hp) and 910Nm of torque.

Volvo Cars calls the EX90 "a highly advanced computer on wheels", and it will receive regular over-the-air software updates.
The EX90 is also designed to be the safest Volvo car to date, powered by next-generation passive and active safety technology and software.
A core system – powered by Nvidia Drive AI platforms Xavier and Orin, Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies and in-house developed software by Volvo engineers – runs most of the core functions inside the car, from safety and infotainment to battery management.
The EX90 gets a few firsts including the first to incorporate lidar (light detection and ranging), the first to be built with Volvo Cars Superset core computing tech stack, and the first Volvo car built with hardware in anticipation of fully autonomous driving.
