Ferrari F355 reimagined for modern times. Nice!
By CARSIFU | 11 July 2024LONDON: The Ferrari F355 of the 1990s has been reimagined and boasts an all new exterior carbon body with an entirely new interior and extensive options for customer personalisation.
More importantly, output is now even more than the original at 420hp (+45hp).
The so-called 355 by Evoluto is the handiwork of British engineering firm Evoluto, which has vastly reworked the 90s Italian supercar with advanced driving dynamics, state-of-the-art technology, and class-redefining engineering.
This model is designed to offer an antidote to the digital direction of modern supercars, emphasising an enhanced analogue driving experience.
Featuring a 420hp high-revving naturally aspirated V8 engine, new engine management, and bespoke tuning, the car offers increased power and responsiveness up to 8,500rpm.
This project, engineered in the UK by DRVN Advanced Engineering and designed by renowned designer Ian Callum.
A significant feature of the 355 by Evoluto is its carbon-fused chassis, which improves torsional stiffness by 23%, enhancing driving dynamics and minimising body flex.
Only 55 units will be made, each tailored to the customer's preferences. Prices vary based on individual requests.
The car will debut at a private launch event during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with an international debut at Monterey Car Week in August 2024.
The re-engineering of the 355 by Evoluto starts with a customer-supplied Ferrari 355, which is disassembled to its core chassis, assessed, cleaned, and strengthened with carbon fusing.
This process results in a 23% increase in torsional stiffness, ensuring a robust foundation for the car’s enhanced driving dynamics.
Performance enhancements include a reworked powertrain with over 200 new and redesigned components, delivering 420hp and improved reliability.
Evoluto’s bespoke tuning and new engine management system, along with a coil-on-plug ignition solution, improve performance, fuel efficiency, and reliability.
The engine enhancements, including a proprietary quill shaft and CNC ported head with larger inlet valves, optimise airflow and combustion efficiency, leading to increased power output and better thermal management.
The car's weight and handling are optimised with a target weight of 1,250kg, achieved through strategic application of carbon bracing and fusing.
The new electronic architecture ensures optimal power distribution and communication between systems, enhancing reliability and performance. The reworked 6-speed manual gearbox and advanced braking system, including Brembo GT brakes, ensure precise control and consistent performance.
Design enhancements by Callum Designs maintain the classic Ferrari 355 ethos while modernising its appearance.
The new carbon fibre body panels reduce weight and improve stiffness, and the interior blends timeless design with modern luxury, offering extensive personalisation options.
