Ferrari 12Cilindri lineup presented from RM4.7mil
By JAY WONG | 28 November 2024SEPANG: Ital Auto Malaysia, the official importer and distributor of Ferrari vehicles in Malaysia, has launched the 12Cilindri in hardtop and Spider variants.
After duties and options without registration and insurance, the hardtop 12Cilindri or "Dodici Cilindri" is priced from RM4.7mil while the convertible Spider variant starts from RM5.1mil.
This is accompanied by a seven-year maintenance programme which dictates a scheduled service of every 20,000km or every 12 months (whichever comes first with unlimited mileage) - a standard for all Prancing Horse models in Malaysia that also includes pre-owned units.
All scheduled services will be conducted at the company's aftersales centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
The facility is touted to be fully equipped with Ferrari's latest diagnostic equipment and is being manned by highly-trained personnel, including Certified Master Technicians with over 10 years of experience in servicing Ferrari vehicles.
With only 199 examples to be made worldwide, the 12Cilindri attributes some of its design cues to other models which includes the 365 GTB/4 Daytona and is represented by a black band at the front of its hood.
At a length of 4,733mm, the 12Cilindri gets a 2,700mm wheelbase and has a width of 2,176mm while standing at a height of just 1,292mm.
With a heft of 1,560kg (dry), the Spider variant weighs 60kg more at 1,620kg, but despite this, it can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 2.95 seconds - an almost negligible difference compared to the hardtop's 2.9 seconds.
This is all thanks to the 6.5-litre (6,496cc) F140HD naturally-aspirated engine that drinks from a 92-litre fuel tank.
Requiring a minimum of RON98 petrol, the engine produces 830hp at 9,250rpm (just 250rpm of its red-line at 9,500rpm) and 678Nm of torque at 7,250rpm.
An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is connected to an electronic differential to help manage the output of the 65-degree V12 engine before reaching the rear wheels.
While it already has a blistering century sprint time of under three seconds, reaching 200kph takes an additional 5.3 seconds to complete at 8.2 seconds and can reach a top speed that's in excess of 340kph.
The front 398mm and rear 360mm disc brakes are used to bring the 12Cilindri from 100kph to a standstill in 31.4m or 122m if travelling at 200kph thanks to the inclusion of anti-lock braking system and automatic brakeforce distribution.
Meanwhile, the staggered 21-inch wheels are fitted with 275/35 tyres at the front and 315/35 at the rear.
Tyre options are either the Michelin Pilot Sport 5S or Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport.
Inside, the two-seater cabin is said to have been inspired by the Purosangue and the 296 GTB.
While equipped with a wireless charger on the central tunnel, three digital displays are equipped starting with the 8.8-inch screen for the passenger, a 15.6-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver.
Both screens flank the centrally-mounted 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen on the dashboard that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A 1,600W 15-speaker Burmester sound system is also available as an optional extra for audiophiles.
Despite being somewhat confined in the cabin, an accommodating 270 litres of boot space is available for those upcoming weekend road trips.
For the purpose of safety and stability while at excessive speeds, it features Side Slip Control (SSC) 8.0, traction control, a brake-by-wire system for the anti-lock braking system (ABS) Evo taken from the 296 GTB and a rear-wheel-steering system from the 812 Competizione.
There's also an adaptive suspension system or Passo Corto Virtuale – Virtual Short Wheelbase (PCV) 3.0 with four-wheel independent steering, Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE) 2.0 and an electronic power steering (EPS) system.
Also, as part of the included aerodynamic package, rear active flaps will deploy with a down-angle of 10 degrees after 60kph to generate up to 50kg of rear downforce.
Upon exceeding 300kph, the flaps will retract for the sake of drag reduction.
Meanwhile, there's a host of intakes and vents that have been strategically placed to help keep the vehicle planted and can be seen on the front fascia, hood and rear haunches - especially a prominently large rear diffuser which has been integrated with the dual twin-exhaust system.
