EZ-6 is Mazda's first global NEV model, launch in late 2024 as BEV and PHEV

NANJING: The Mazda EZ-6 will be the Japanese carmaker's first global new energy vehicle (NEV) to be produced in China .

Mazda will officially launch the EZ-6 in fall 2024, with initial availability in the Chinese and European markets. '

The vehicle made its global debut at the Beijing International Auto Show in April.

The EZ-6, developed in collaboration with Changan Mazda, rolled off the production line in July at the joint venture’s facility in China. This milestone coincided with the signing of an electric vehicle export cooperation agreement, designating Changan Mazda as Mazda’s exclusive new energy R&D and production base for the global market.

The EZ-6 blends Mazda’s signature design language, KODO-Soul of Motion, with advanced electric vehicle technology from Changan Automobile.

It features two powertrain options: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The BEV model is expected to deliver a range of around 600km, while the PHEV variant is anticipated to exceed 1,000km on a single tank of fuel.

The EZ-6 is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including Level 2.5 autonomous driving assistance, a Qualcomm SA8155P chip, panoramic cameras, and ultrasonic radars.

These features enable intelligent driving scenarios such as autonomous and remote parking. Additionally, the vehicle offers a crafted driving experience that adheres to Mazda’s Jinba-Ittai philosophy, ensuring a seamless connection between car and driver.

Mazda’s strategy includes expanding its lineup of electrified vehicles in China, with the Mazda Arata concept model set to be mass-produced by 2025.
