Experience contactless Touch 'n Go RFID refuelling at 88 Shell stations
By CARSIFU | 10 August 2022KUALA LUMPUR: Touch 'n Go Group and Shell Malaysia have officially launched Touch 'n Go RFID cashless payment system at 88 Shell service stations nationwide.
The innovative system allows motorists to pay for fuel without the need to go to the counter.
Customers need to have a Touch 'n Go RFID tag linked to their Touch 'n Go eWallet and perform a one-time registration and activation.
The RFID tags on vehicles will be detected once customers stop at dedicated RFID-enabled pumps and payment will be auto-debited from Touch 'n Go eWallets.
Customers can then proceed to fuel their vehicles.
BonusLink points can also be earned with each fuel purchase.
Touch 'n Go group chief executive officer Effendy Shahul Hamid said the contactless system would enable customers to make payments at Shell stations without needing any interaction with a mobile phone app or approaching a point-of-sale terminal.
He said the new rollout showed that the RFID system could be used for other seamless payment experience beyond just paying for toll charges.
Shell Mobility for Malaysia and Singapore general manager Seow Lee Ming said the new convenient payment method was in line with the company's commitment to making its customers' journeys more seamless through innovation.
"Over the last year, we have received positive response from over 10,000 pilot users, and we have been working closely with Touch 'n Go to continuously optimise the technology to ensure a truly hassle-free payment experience," she said.
Shell Malaysia is also expected to increase the number of its RFID-enabled services in the current 88 stations to 200 locations by the end of the year.
