Ex-BMW CEO to head BMW Motorrad

MUNICH: Ex-BMW M boss Markus Flasch has been announced as the new head of BMW Motorrad, set to take over the position on Nov 1.

Flasch, who is currently the product line manager for BMW vehicles in the middle and luxury classes, as well as the Rolls-Royce brand, has been with the BMW Group since 2015.

He previously served as the head of BMW M GmbH, where he led the company to become the world's leading supplier of performance and high-performance cars.

"As a passionate motorcyclist, I am delighted to build on BMW Motorrad’ s great successes so far and, together with the highly motivated BMW Motorrad team, to do everything I can to lead our fascinating brand into a successful future,” Flasch said on his new role.

He will succeed Markus Schramm, who has been with the BMW Group since 1991 and has led BMW Motorrad since May 2018.

Under Schramm's leadership, BMW Motorrad became the number one brand in the global premium motorcycle market for the first time, achieving record results in 2022 with over 202,000 motorcycles and scooters delivered to customers.

BMW Motorrad recently celebrated its 100th anniversary with the opening of the new BMW Motorrad Welt in Berlin.

The highlight of the opening ceremony was the world premiere of the new BMW R 1300 GS, which continues the success story of the GS models.
