PETALING JAYA: Estonian ride-hailing provider Bolt has officially launched its service in the Klang Valley, presenting a new transportation option designed for convenience, comfort, and efficiency. With a user-friendly app, Klang Valley residents can quickly book rides while enjoying an alternative to existing e-hailing services.
To promote its service, Bolt is offering a 50% discount for the first seven rides booked via its app for new users, valid until Nov 16. Existing customers would get a 20% discount on 20 rides, valid until Nov 13.
Bolt’s entry aims to relieve the strain on public transportation by offering an accessible and flexible mobility solution that supports last-mile travel needs in the region.
In addition to serving passengers, Bolt’s platform also provides local residents with flexible earning opportunities, allowing drivers to set their own schedules.
The company’s long-term mission is to promote shared mobility, thereby reducing the reliance on privately owned vehicles, which in turn could ease traffic congestion and lessen air pollution in urban areas.
Bolt said it aims to make its platform an integral part of a city’s transport ecosystem, encouraging a shift away from private cars towards shared rides that complement public transit.
“Bolt’s presence offers a reliable alternative for last-mile connectivity, helping alleviate pressure on public transportation systems and shaping a more liveable future for Malaysian cities,” said Bolt Malaysia general manager Afzan Lutfi.
The company sees significant growth potential in Malaysia’s ride-hailing market, with projected user numbers expected to reach 11.47 million by 2029.
Bolt expects to expand its service beyond the Klang Valley in due course.
In other countries where it operates, Bolt also offers scooter and e-bike sharing, food delivery, grocery deliver, car rental service and corporate mobility service.
