Error 4.40: Correct balance not found in Penang parking app
By THE STAR | 19 January 2022GEORGE TOWN: Penang Smart Parking (PSP) users got a rude shock this morning when their ewallet balance showed RM4.40 for everyone, regardless of their actual balance in the app.
A message about the technical issue stating that the parking app has been hacked went viral on social media and WhatsApp.
Penang Smart Parking, however, in its Facebook page clarified that the app is currently facing some technical issues and the matter is being resolved.
"We would like to inform users not to worry if your ewallet balances appear as RM4.40 in the PSP app. "We are currently facing some technical issues and our team is looking into it and we will get it fixed ASAP.
"Rest assured that all user wallets remain secure and the balances are intact," it said.
PSP apologised for any inconvenience caused and clarified that they are working hard to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, Penang Island City Council financial management committee alternate chairman Wong Yuee Harng said motorists who park within the parking box and could not pay within the down time need not to worry as the council will not fine them.
"Those who park within the parking box, if they are fined, the council will cancel the fines automatically," he said.
Wong said the council has ordered that enforcement be halted when they received news about the technical issues of the app.
This is not the first time that the parking app has experienced technical issues of this nature.
In September 2020, motorists took to Facebook to complain after failing to log in to their PSP account.
PSP operator Heitech Padu clarified on its Facebook account later that the service glitch was being fixed.
