EPMB signs MoU With Great Wall Motor for local assembly
By CARSIFU | 20 October 2023KUALA LUMPUR: Main Market-listed EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) and Great Wall Motor (GWM) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for local assembly of GWM vehicles.
Under the MoU, EPMB and GWM Malaysia aim to ink a definitive agreement in the next three months.
In a statement, Great Wall Motor said should both parties reach an agreement, the collaboration will kick off from 2024 onwards with SUVs (sport utility vehicles), pick-up trucks and electric vehicles (EVs).
EPMB's production of GWM vehicles is targeted to gradually ramp up every year, reaching 20,000 units by 2028.
EPMB group CEO Ahmad Razlan Mohamed said, "We are pleased to embark on this strategic alliance with GWM, a strong pick-up brand in China, and who has a strong global presence."
GWM Malaysia managing director Mike Cui said, "GWM Malaysia is delighted to witness the exciting moment together with EPMB, a reputable Tier-1 automotive supplier in Malaysia. As GWM’s first CKD project in Asean, and this will be a significant footprint in GWM's global production landscape."
