Covid-19: PLUS delays RFID deployment on highways
By CARSIFU | 24 March 2020
KUALA LUMPUR: Plus Malaysia Bhd has postponed the implementation date of its RFID-based toll collection system.
The system used by Plus was supposed to go live on April 1 but has been postponed to a later date.
The highways using the closed system toll plazas include all Plus highways as well as the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2)
In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, all testing and site works have been halted under the movement control order (MCO).
All work to complete RFID readiness on Plus-operated highways will resume once the government's MCO is lifted.
Upon completion, all 83 Plus and 10 LPT2 Closed System toll plazas will be equipped with RFID facilities.
“The MCO is an important move to protect the health, safety and well-being of not just our employees but all Malaysians from the threat of Covid-19," said Plus managing director Datuk Azman Ismail today.
The company also reminded the public to stay home to avoid infection and to avoid spreading the virus.
