Chery Omoda E5 earns Euro NCAP and ANCAP 5-star safety
By CARSIFU | 22 November 2024KUALA LUMPUR: Chery’s Omoda E5 has earned 5-star safety ratings from both the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) and the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP).
These results highlight Chery’s commitment to safety and innovation, building on the success of the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant; the Omoda 5, which secured top safety
ratings in 2022.
The battery electric vehicle (BEV) Omoda E5 maintains the five-star rating obtained by the Omoda 5 petrol model following additional tests.
The recent accolades also reinforce the Omoda 5’s global reputation as a leader in automotive safety, having already earned five-star certifications from Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and
ASEAN NCAP.
Results from both the independent assessments, saw Omoda E5 demonstrated exceptional safety in Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, and Safety Assist.
The Omoda E5 also underwent additional safety evaluations, including frontal offset and oblique pole crash tests to assess its overall safety performance and the integrity of its high- voltage battery.
Designed with young passengers in mind, the Omoda E5 offers ergonomically engineered child seat interfaces, providing a stable and secure installation.
Its advanced airbag system further enhances protection by precisely calibrating deployment timing and coverage to offer maximum safety for children.
The Omoda E5 performed seamlessly in key AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) tests for Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection and Safety Assist (SA), addressing the challenges posed by unpredictable road users.
Its AEB accurately identifies targets over a broad speed range and responds swiftly to mitigate collision risks, setting a benchmark in active safety performance.
