KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Auto Malaysia (CAM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Sports Council (MSNM) that will reward medal winners returning from the upcoming Paris Olympics next month.

The collaboration will see bronze medal winners receive a Tiggo 7 Pro while silver medal winners will get the all-electric Omoda E5.

Those who clinch the highly coveted gold medal will be rewarded with a seven-seater Tiggo 8 Pro.

The sports utility vehicles are being used to help motivate Malaysia's 18 athletes who will partake in the 33rd Olympiads in Paris, France.

Attending the event were Malaysian Football League chief executive officer and Road to Gold Programme co-ordinator Datuk Stuart Ramalingam, Chery Automobile Co Ltd chairman Yin Tongyue and Chery International president Zhang Guibing.

In a statement, National Sports Council director-general Abdul Rashid Yaakub said they were delighted with Chery's pledge to reward its athletes.

"We hope this will spur the athletes to give their best and make the country proud," said Rashid.

“To the Malaysian contingent, know that Chery Malaysia will be cheering for you every step of the way,” added CAM president Leo Chen.

Chery Group is currently supporting local athletes from various countries for the games.

In Malaysia, various activities - including viewing parties, have been organised to cheer on the nation's athletes.
