Chery Malaysia takes deliveries of CKD Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5
By CARSIFU | 30 August 2023KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has taken delivery of the first locally assembled units of the Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5 sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
The handover ceremony was held in the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah and attended by Inokom Corp managing director Sui Keng Huat and Chery Malaysia plant operation director Xu Jing Zhong.
"Chery Malaysia is committed to further enhancing our completely knocked down (CKD) manufacturing capabilities, investing in cutting-edge technology, and more collaborations with local suppliers to support the automotive ecosystem in Malaysia," said the company in a statement.
In July, sole distributor Chery Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd launched the Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5 SUVs.
The Tiggo 8 Pro is available in a single variant and is priced on-the-road without insurance at RM159,800 while the smaller Omoda 5 comes in an entry-level C-variant at RM108,800 and a range-topping H-variant at RM118,800.
The company offers an unprecedented seven-year warranty which includes a five-year free servicing package.
The five-seater Omoda 5 has a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, mated to a 9-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT), which produces 156PS and maximum torque of 230Nm.
Meanwhile, the three-row, seven-seater Tiggo 8 Pro has a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), producing 256PS and maximum torque of 390Nm.
