Chery Malaysia inks Mou with Carsome
By CARSIFU | 13 January 2024KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has inked two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Carsome and Carsome Academy, in order to revolutionise vehicle trade-ins and enhance soft skills within the automaker's network of representatives.
Upon opting for a trade-in, Chery customers can have Carsome conduct a vehicle inspection at their preferred location.
Following the inspection, Carsome will offer a price for the trade-in vehicle.
Once the offer is accepted, customers can then hand over their old vehicle before or while collecting their new Chery vehicle.
The collaboration MoU was signed by Chery Auto Malaysia vice president Lee Wen Hsiang and Carsome country managing director (Malaysia) Chris Ang Tee Wei during Chery’s annual business briefing recently in Kuala Lumpur.
Carsome also threw in a special campaign for Chery dealers by offering an additional RM500 on top of the trade-in-offer price for their customers who trade in their vehicles from 15 January to 15 February 2024.
Meanwhile, the second MoU aims to bolster soft skills within Chery's network of representatives.
Chery Auto Malaysia's network development director, Soon Boon Ping, and Jiun Ee Teoh, co-founder of Carsome and CEO of Carsome Academy, formalised the agreement.
The agreement will centre on four aspects:
- Upskilling Workforce: Elevating Chery's existing and new workforce through specialised training programs.
- Peneraju Skil Motor Vehicle Inspection Programme: Extending the Peneraju Skil Motor Vehicle Inspection Programme to enhance the skills and knowledge of Chery’s workforce.
- Training & Placements: Providing on-the-job (OTJ) training and work placements at Chery for Carsome Academy students under the Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN) model.
- Marketing Initiatives: Engaging in mutually agreed marketing initiatives to foster collaboration and growth.
Lee said both collaborations were timely for Chery Malaysia's growing customer base over the months since the brand debut in July last year.
“The collaboration with Carsome will be beneficial and important for our dealers, especially with the increase in customers who seek to trade in their old cars for a new Chery vehicle,” he said. "Additionally, with plans to expand showrooms to 48 outlets by the end of 2024, there will be an increase in the workforce, including sales representatives and managers."
“At Carsome, we aim to collaborate with more automotive manufacturers as part of our commitment to offering trust, transparency, and choice to customers, enhancing the car buying and selling experience.
Our collaboration with Chery is a step forward in that direction; it represents a milestone in expanding our network and touchpoints, furthering our mission to provide the best car ownership experience,” shared Eric Cheng, co-founder and CEO of Carsome.
“Our partnership with Chery enables us to offer customers upfront information on their car’s trade-in value, facilitating a smoother transition to a new Chery vehicle,” he added.
