BYD Sealion 7 to launch in Malaysia
By CARSIFU | 05 November 2024KUALA LUMPUR: The BYD Sealion 7 performance SUV (sport utility vehicle) that rivals the Tesla Model Y, is due to be launched in Malaysia next week.
On BYD's European website, the Sealion 7 features a 91.3kWh battery and can reach a top speed of 215kph.
Features include an electric tailgate that opens with just a foot gesture, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, premium quilted Nappa leather seats, and soft vegan leather that covers over 80% of the interior.
BYD says the Sealion 7's interior was inspired by the dynamic flow and speed of sailboat racing.
Designed by BYD's global design director Wolfgang Egger, the Sealion 7 has a distinctive "Ocean X" front styling, low-slung bonnet, and sweeping fastback design.
The midsize SUV was launched in China in May 2024, and https://carnewschina.com reported that there are four variants, with prices starting at 189,800 yuan (RM116,536).
The variants are:
- 550 Standard:189,800 yuan (RM116,536)
- 610 Long Range:199,800 yuan (RM122,676)
- 610 Smart:219,800 yuan (RM134,946)
- 550 4WD Smart:239,800 yuan (RM147,225)
Car News China reported that two-wheel drive models include electric motors with 230kW and 170kW power outputs.
Meanwhile, the four-wheel drive model has two motors, with maximum power outputs of 160kW and 230kW.
The single-motor model offers two range options: 550km and 610km, while the dual-motor model has a range of 550km.
Maximum torque is 380 Nm, with 0-100 sprint times of 7.3 seconds and 6.7 seconds, respectively. The battery capacity is 71.8 kWh and 80.64 kWh.
The BYD Sea Lion 07 can charge 10 – 80% in 25 minutes.
