PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby will be bringing in another Chinese brand to offer Malaysians following on its successful deployment of the BYD franchise.
Sime Darby Auto Imports Sdn. Bhd. has been appointed as the official importer and BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd as the official distributor for Denza, a premium sub-brand by BYD, in Malaysia.
BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony of the Denza Importation & Distribution Agreement with the two parties at a hotel here yesterday.
This deal would mark the start of Denza entering into Malaysia. Sime Darby Motors, the automotive arm of Sime Darby Bhd, was appointed the official exclusive distributor of BYD passenger electric vehicles on Dec 8, 2022.
Present at the signing ceremony were BYD general manager of Asia-Pacific auto sales division Liu Xueliang, Sime Darby Auto Imports managing director Harun Mohd Joned and BYD Malaysia managing director Eagle Zhao.
According to BYD, Denza would bring a new dimension to Malaysia’s EV market with premium cutting-edge technology, features and driving experience.
“BYD’s mission has always been to make electric vehicles accessible to more people, and with the introduction of Denza, we are offering Malaysian drivers a premium choice that embodies both luxury and sustainability," said Zhao.
On the BYD front, it is set to launch the M6 electric MPV locally on Oct 15. Registration of interest is open now.
