Budget 2023: My50 monthly LRT pass continues, unlimited travel bus pass programme expanded
By THE STAR | 24 February 2023KUALA LUMPUR: The My50 monthly LRT pass initiative continues for the benefit of nearly 180,000 users in the urban communities who commute to work, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim
The Finance Minister said Prasarana will pilot a new initiative — the MyBAS50 Unlimited Travel Pass in Johor Baru - benefiting those who commute using the domestic bus services under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme.
He said RM150mil will be allocated to expand the implementation of the SBST programme to Melaka, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
The government will also review the details of the Mass Rapid Transit Line 3 (MRT3) project to ensure the best value, said Anwar during the tabling of Budget 2023 here.
He added the government is confident of achieving additional savings, about RM45bil, in line with governance reforms to reduce costs to achieve savings that can be redistributed for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister also said the government will continue subsidising RM209mil for air transport as the main transport for the people of the interior of Sabah and Sarawak.
“Wheelchair ramp facilities at seven airports in Sabah and Sarawak will be built for the benefit of thousands of wheelchair users who use MASWings,” he added.
Themed "Membangun Malaysia Madani (Developing Malaysia Madani)”, Budget 2023 will in particular, focus on addressing the high cost of living, further strengthening the social safety net and enhancing the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ecosystem.
