Bookings open for 2024 Honda CR-V: Hybrid model in line-up
By CARSIFU | 15 November 2023KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia has opened bookings for the 2024 Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle (SUV) at all 101 dealerships nationwide.
The sixth-generation SUV is to be launched in December 2023.
Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura said, “The CR-V has a 20-year history as the first completely knocked-down (CKD) model to roll out from our Melaka manufacturing plant in 2003. To date, the CR-V has sold more than 129,000 units, solidifying its position as one of Honda Malaysia’s highest contributors to our sales history. With the imminent launch of the all-new CR-V, we anticipate its continued dominance in the non-national SUV segment.”
The new CR-V has two powertrain options - the new-generation 2.0L e:HEV powertrain and a 1.5L VTEC turbocharged engine.
The new CR-V is the first among Honda’s lineup to receive an e:HEV powertrain with an improved hybrid traction motor that enables higher top speed, producing up to 335Nm of torque and 182hp of maximum power.
Coupled with an electric continuous variable transmission (e:CVT) with a new framework, which is a first for Honda Malaysia, the model provides significant drivability, high agility and smooth acceleration.
Meanwhile, the 1.5L VTEC turbocharged engine delivers 193ps and a peak torque of 243Nm.
The advanced CVT for this engine also further optimises engine tuning, ensuring improved quietness and smoother drive.
To top it off, the new CR-V has Real Time AWD (all-wheel drive) that enhances distribution of driving force to all four wheels.
The new CR-V e:HEV RS variant has full LED headlights and tail-lights, LED front fog lights, and front LED sequential turn signals, and Berlina Black 18-inch alloy wheels.
The functional exterior design of the CR-V e:HEV RS variant features an Active Shutter Grille, a first in the model, that enhances both aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.
Mounted on the front lower bumper, it regulates cooling airflow by automatically opening and closing the shutters based on the car’s speed, engine temperature and cooling needs.
A new feature is the hands-free power tailgate with walkaway close for easy access to the boot, with automatic closing upon walking away.
The multi-view camera system that provides the driver with a 360-degree view of the surroundings is also offered.
Safety technologies include an upgraded Honda SENSING system with a wide-angle radar and camera and sonar sensor for Low Speed Braking Control.
The driver-assistive technology now has nine Honda SENSING safety functions with the addition of Adaptive Driving Beam (exclusive for e:HEV RS), its first introduction in a Honda model.
This function enhances driver’s visibility and reduces dazzle for preceding and oncoming vehicles. Improved with better line tracing and steering assistance, the Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) enables easier cruising on open roads and highways.
Also offered is Honda CONNECT, providing easy control over safety, security and convenience functions.
Prior to its launch, Honda Malaysia will arrange exclusive previews in selected dealerships for customers.
