Book X50 only through authorised dealers, says Proton

PETALING JAYA: Proton is urging those who want to get the soon-to-launch X50 SUV to book through only authorised Proton dealers and outlets.

It said in a brief statement yesterday that some unscrupulous parties were seeking to profit from the keen public interest by misrepresenting themselves.

Proton said only bookings made via authorised Proton dealers and outlets are legitimate.

It said it has not appointed any parties outside of its authorised sales network to act as sales agents for the company’s products.

"We would like to strongly urge all potential customers to be wary of individuals or organisations claiming otherwise and if in doubt to contact us," it said.

The automaker recently announced that it had registered 20,000 bookings for the X50 two weeks after series production began at its plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak.
