KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Malaysia has introduced the entry-level X1 sDrive18i (F48) Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) during the launch of the M135i xDrive.
The locally-assembled (completely knocked down - CKD) X1, follows from the recent introduction of the X1 sDrive20i M Sport variant earlier this year.
The X1 sDrive18i comes priced on-the-road without insurance and SST at RM208,368.48, compared to the X1 sDrive20i that's currently priced at RM225,410 without SST, and is currently available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide.
New owners will receive the complete BMW Group Malaysia Premium Ownership experience which is a five-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service programme that's accompanied by BMW roadside assistance and accident hotline as well as gain access to the BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App and BMW Service Online before receiving a BMW Privileges Card.
Furthermore, customers can also book this new German SAV online at RM1,000 and be in the running to bring home a new BMW i8 Coupé.
For colour choices, there are four options that include Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue, Black Sapphire, and Mineral Grey while the powered front seats get upholstered in black Leather Dakota that's contrasted against a grey headliner and the sports steering wheel gets wrapped in leather.Powering the sDrive18i is a 1.5-litre (1,499cc) in-line three-cylinder engine producing 140hp from 4,600 to 6,500rpm and 220Nm of torque from 1,480 to 4,200rpm.
The engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch steptronic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 9.6 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 201kph.
With the key FOB in your pocket, giving a quick kick below the rear bumper activates the powered tailgate to reveal a 505-litre boot that's expandable to 1,550 litres with the rear seats folded down.
The is also the BMW Personal CoPilot, which includes the Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning with braking intervention, High-beam Assistant, as well as a speed
limit information to further bolster safety levels.
