BMW unveils stick-shift Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition
By CARSIFU | 05 February 2024MUNICH: BMW is set to introduce the Pure Impulse edition of the BMW Z4 M40i for the 2024 model year, catering to enthusiasts of open-top driving pleasure.
The significant highlight of this edition is the inclusion of a six-speed manual gearbox, a first for the range-topping version, enhancing the focus on delivering an exhilarating open-top driving experience.
Developed exclusively for the Z4 M40i, the manual six-speeder is a BMW modular transmission incorporating M-specific components for the gear set and shafts that has been modified for the straight-six engine’s output.
The new edition boasts a retuned chassis, mixed-size M light-alloy wheels, and exclusive design features for both the exterior and interior.
The Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition features a 3.0-litre straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering 340hp and 500 Nm of torque.
With the manual gearbox, the roadster can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.6 seconds.
The model also includes standard features like variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, and an M Sport differential.
In terms of exterior aesthetics, this edition offers M High-gloss Shadowline trim, black high-gloss exterior mirror caps, and red brake callipers for the M Sport brakes. Two new exterior paint options, Frozen Deep Green metallic and Sanremo Green metallic, provide additional choices for buyers.
Inside, the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition showcases M-specific design elements, including an M gearshift lever with a model-specific sleeve, Vernasca leather trim in Cognac with black M piping, and interior trim strips in Black high-gloss.
The soft-top roof of the Z4 is also available in an Anthracite Silver effect finish as an alternative to the standard black colour for all model variants.
It is electrically operated and can be opened or closed in the space of ten seconds at the touch of a button, even while travelling at speeds up to 50 kph. A wind deflector, seat heating and two-zone automatic climate control also form part of standard specification on all variants of the roadster.
Furthermore, the 2024 model year brings new exterior paint finishes to the entire Z4 range, with Frozen Deep Green metallic reserved for the top-of-the-line versions and Sanremo Green metallic available for the Z4 sDrive20i and Z4 sDrive30i.
The Z4 has seen consistent success in the premium roadster segment, with the M model accounting for over 30% of global sales.
This Pure Impulse edition aims to further enhance the popularity of the Z4 M40i.
The model will be available in Germany, other European markets, and the USA, with production set to begin in March.
