BMW 8 Series struggles in North America
By CARSIFU | 24 March 2020
LOS ANGELES: The BMW 8 Series is seeing poor sales in the United States, according to Automotive News.
The 8 Series which are offered in coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe variants is seeing limited appeal, and it's not helped by its hefty starting price of US$87,900 which can go up to six figures with added options.
Automotive News claimed there were more than 2,000 unsold 8 Series cars with American BMW dealers as of early March.
The dealers said BMW was not providing strong marketing support for the 8 Series but instead was focusing its resources on the X7 SUV, which is a bigger volume seller.
Plans to promote the 8 Series more aggressively have also been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which has severely disrupted the automotive industry.
