Audi showcases China-exclusive models and EV Concept
By CARSIFU | 20 November 2024GUANGZHOU: Audi has unveiled a series of China-specific models and concepts at Auto Guangzhou 2024 that highlight its strategic focus on the country’s automotive market.
The event marked significant debuts by Audi in partnership with Chinese manufacturers FAW and SAIC.
At the FAW stand, Audi presented the Q6L e-tron, the brand’s first locally produced vehicle based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Designed exclusively for the Chinese market, the Q6L e-tron features a longer wheelbase and market-specific innovations, including a digitally enhanced interior tailored for Chinese customers.
Production of the Q6L e-tron is set to start in December at a new facility in Changchun operated by the Audi FAW NEV joint venture.
Another highlight at the FAW stand was the Audi A5L, the successor to the A4L and a combustion-engine model built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC).
The A5L introduces Audi’s updated international naming system and combines a roomier interior with design enhancements such as illuminated rings and advanced digital features.
Meanwhile, the SAIC stand showcased the global premiere of the AUDI E concept, an electric Sportback developed in collaboration with SAIC.
Measuring 4.87 metres in length, the concept features dual electric motors delivering 570 kW and quattro all-wheel drive.
The AUDI E concept is positioned to appeal to China’s tech-savvy customers, blending Audi’s premium design language with SAIC’s digital innovation. The concept previews three production models slated for launch starting in 2025.
Audi’s CEO Gernot Döllner said: “Our goal is to continue to play a leading role in the premium market in China. And to achieve that, together with our partners, we are expanding our product portfolio with a major model initiative.”
