KUALA LUMPUR: Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd (Allianz General) launched a new insurance coverage – the Allianz EV Shield for electric vehicles (EVs).
Offered under the Private Car Comprehensive policy, the new coverage features an industry-first on-the-go charging, allaying concerns among car owners for stalled EVs out of charge.
Allianz EV Rangers will provide on-the-spot charging enough to cover the range towards the nearest charging facility.

Allianz Malaysia CEO Sean Wang said Allianz EV Shield comes with holistic solutions.
"For example, if you are out of battery on the way to catch a flight, our Allianz EV Rangers will zip to you, charge your EV battery enough and set you on your way.”
Customers with Allianz EV Shield can also expect benefits covering the various touchpoints involved in powering up an EV including - RM15,000 for losses or damages due to fire, theft and natural causes to wallboxes and RM2,000 for losses due to fire, theft and accidental causes for portable charging cables.
If mishap occurs while charging using a public EV Charger, a compassionate cover of up to RM5,000 is afforded to the customer for the cost of repair or for medical expenses if the vehicle is damaged and the insured suffers bodily injuries.
Furthermore, the insured is covered up to RM50,000 for third-party bodily injury and property damaged caused by the insured’s direct use of an EV home wall charger.
