PETALING JAYA: Bermaz Xpeng has launched the flagship X9 luxury seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that comes with cutting-edge features, futuristic styling and advanced safety systems.
Available in three variants, prices for Peninsular Malaysia registration are RM269,888 for the Standard Range 2WD Pro, RM287,888 for the Long Range 2WD Pro and RM299,888 for the Long Range 2WD Pro Plus.
The X9's steeply-raked front and rear windscreens along with a streamlined silhouette, large windows and flowing lines give rise to a starship-like appearance.
The signature “Robot Face” front is complemented by a seamless horizontal daytime running light, crystal grille with a layered design and an Active Grille Shutter (AGS) system that enhances aerodynamics.
Using front double wishbone and rear H-arm multi-link suspensions, the generously-sized X9 has a length of 5,293mm, width of 1,988mm and height of 1,785mm.
While having a rather long wheelbase of 3,160mm, the X9's active rear wheel-steering system, a world-first paired with an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension, enabled a tight turning diameter of 5.4m that is similar to a smaller vehicle's.
The suspension system also automatically adjusts ride stiffness based on road conditions to ensure a smooth and comfortable drive.
In addition, the X9 is also the world’s first BEV 7-seater MPV to get a front and rear-integrated die-cast aluminum body structure for enhanced safety and durability.
Inside, the upmarket vehicle is spacious and is enhanced by premium materials such as wood veneer and aluminum air vents for a modern, minimalist feel along with two interior color options of Starry Night Black and Moon Shadow Brown.
Aside from a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and 17.3-inch centre control screen, the X9 also gets a rear 21.4-inch entertainment screen, customisable ambient lighting, advanced air purification system, CN95 filtration and a 23-speaker X-Opera Sound System for concert-like audio system.
The Long Range 2WD Pro Plus comes with second row "Zero Gravity" seats and full-grain Nappa leather upholstery, while the other two variants get second row "Aviation" seats with premium leather.
Depending on their location, the electric seats may be equipped with position memory, massaging, and heating/cooling features.
The X9 can also be transformed from a seven-seater into an ultra-roomy four-seater with a single click that electrically folds the third row seats and expands the boot volume from 755 litres to 2,554 litres.
Also featured are a smart refrigerator, front dual air-cooled wireless smart phone fast chargers, 3.3kW V2L, one USB Type A and five USB Type C ports, Over-the-Air updates, and Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth, hotspot, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, among others.
Also equipped are a panoramic canopy with sky curtains, acoustic glass front windshield and windows, automatic wipers, electric tailgate, LED auto headlights and 20-inch wheels,
Built on Xpeng's advanced SEPA 2.0 architecture, the X9 features an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) platform for ultra-fast DC charging.
The Standard Range 2WD Pro variant comes with an 84.5kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, offering up to 500km of range with 315hp and 450Nm of torque, while the Long Range variants feature a larger 101.5kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery, extending the range to 590km with the same power output.
Its cutting-edge energy optimisation and thermal management also allows rapid charging, with DC charging capacities of up to 317kW and enabling a 10%-80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Along with a low drag body of 0.236 Cd, all variants have a top speed of 200kph and can complete the 0-100kph sprint in 7.7 seconds.
Standard safety includes six airbags and an electronic child lock, while advanced driver assistance utilises high-definition radar, ultrasonic sensors and a 360-degree HD camera system powered by the Nvidia Orin-X chipset.
The Xpilot advanced driving safety system includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, Lane Centering Control (LCC), Adaptive Turning Cruise (ATC), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (SAS), and Active Lane Change (ALC) for a seamless driving experience.
For parking, the X9 offers Enhanced Auto Parking Assist (EAP 2.0), Auto Exit Parking Assist (AEP), and Straight Summon which are accessible via the Xpeng mobile app for effortless maneuvering.
Also provided are Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind-Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Fully imported from China, the X9 is available in three exterior colors of Nebula White, Crescent Silver and Dark Night Black.
It also gets a 5-Year Manufacturer Warranty (or 120,000km, whichever comes first) and 5-Years Free Service and Maintenance (or 100,000km, whichever comes first).
An 8-Year High Voltage Battery Pack and Motor Warranty with a 160,000km mileage limit is also provided.
Also available are a 7kw single-phase AC charger with installation at RM4,300 and a 11kw three-phase AC charger with installation at RM5,000.
