All-new Toyota Vios launched from RM89,600
By CARSIFU | 20 March 2023KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor has launched the all-new fourth-generation Toyota Vios that comes with a roomier interior along with higher levels of refinement, safety and fuel economy.
On-the-road without insurance prices in Peninsular Malaysia start from RM95,500 for the advanced G grade variant and RM89,600 for the value deal E grade.
UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K said the company had received more than 5,000 bookings for the new model since order taking began on Feb 24.
“This is a testament to the popularity of the all-new Toyota Vios in the Malaysian market.
“We are excited to kick off the year with the launch of the all-new Toyota Vios, which represents our commitment to providing our customers with the best quality vehicles and services,” he said at the model's launch in Kuala Lumpur tonight.
Also present at the launch were UMW Toyota Motor chairman Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, UMW Holdings president and group CEO Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, UMW deputy chairman Takashi Obata and All-New Vios project executive chief engineer Hideyuki Kamino.
The new Vios is produced at the Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB) in Bukit Raja, Klang with quality standards and assembling processes that meet the Toyota Way.
The vehicle is powered by the proven 1.5-litre DOHC Dual VVT-i engine with 106PS/138Nm that has been improved to deliver better response and mated to a new seven-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Sequential Shiftmatic for quicker acceleration and improved fuel efficiency.
The new Vios is the first vehicle to incorporate state-of-the-art technology such as Ultra High Tensile Materials, Continuous Frame Design, and Increased Welding spots for higher body rigidity and reduced mass.
Aside from being a bigger vehicle compared with the previous generation, the new Vios also gets a wheelbase of 2,620mm which is 70mm longer.
Among the standard features are auto LED headlamps with Follow Me Home function, nine-inch display audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3D panoramic view monitor, rear air conditioner vents, a front digital video recorder with smartphone connectivity, six airbags, acoustic windshield glass, 17-inch wheels, wireless smartphone charger, smart entry & push start button, and drive modes of Eco, Normal and Power.
Also available for both variants are Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), pedal misoperation control, blindspot monitor, anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control and traction control.
The G grade gets additional items such as active cruise control, auto high beam control, seven-inch TFT multi-information display, electric parking brake with auto brake hold, rear LED lights with sequential turn signal, automatic air conditioner, and seats, steering wheel and gear shifter knob in leather.
Since the Vios nameplate was introduced in 2003, UMW Toyota Motor has sold more than half a million units to date.
The new Vios is offered in Platinum White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Nebula Blue Metallic and the new addition of Spicy Scarlet.
Warranty is five years with unlimited mileage and owners will also enjoy 24SEVEN Road Assist and a free three-year subscription to the Toyota Vehicle Telematics System.
