All-new Kia EV9 EV - 2024 World Car of The Year - previewed from RM370,000
By CARSIFU | 03 May 2024PETALING JAYA: Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Kia brand in Malaysia, introduced the brand's latest sports utility vehicle (SUV) addition to the local lineup - Kia EV9.
The EV9, which debuted in March 2023, has won prestigious awards like the 2024 World Car of The Year, 2024 World Electric Vehicle and the Best of the Best Award in Cars and Motorcycle category by Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024.
Fully imported from South Korea, the electric vehicle is offered locally in GT-line trim and all-wheel-drive (AWD) in seven- or six-seater layout.
The seven-seater comes with on-the-road without insurance price of RM369,668 for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia while the six-seater is available at RM374,668.
The colour line-up are Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, Pebble Gray, Aurora Black Pearl and Iceberg Green.
As Kia’s first dedicated three-row flagship SUV, the EV9 uses Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Bringing fresh thinking, design and technology, the EV9 spearheads the Korean brand’s rapid transformation to a sustainable mobility solution provider in the era of electrification.
Exuding bold styling and sophisticated elegance inside and out, the EV9 re-envisions the all-electric SUV with a unique balance of natural and modern elements.
The EV9 has a wheelbase of 3,100mm, an overall length of 5,010mm, width of 1,980mm and height of 1,755mm.
Its signature “Digital Tiger Face” showcases its unique identity, accentuating the “Digital Pattern Lighting Grille” that adds an element of dynamism and sophistication, while its vertical headlamps gives a futuristic appearance.
The Digital Tiger Face also features two clusters of small cube lamps adjacent to each headlamp.
Meanwhile, the rear gets the “Star Map” LED daytime running lights (DRL) taillights that creates a sophisticated animated lighting pattern that gives the vehicle an instant recognisable look.
For the GT-line variant, its design features a unique aesthetic where the front and rear bumpers, wheels and roof rack get a distinctive black colour palette that exudes a strong and assertive presence.
The EV9's interior design is tailored to elevate the experience for millennial families, emphasising space, adaptability, comfort, and cutting-edge technology.
Its long wheelbase, low beltline and flat electric vehicle architecture are the key elements that contribute to the generous interior space.
Aside from its spacious, light and airy cabin with leatherette upholstery, the EV9 embodies an elegantly simple, premium quality and user-friendly design created using recycled materials.
Its floating panoramic dashboard, which extends from the steering wheel to the centre of the vehicle, houses two 12.3-inch screens.
The EV9 also comes with a digital rearview mirror and two side cameras on the front doors to project the side rearview onto two monitors on the interior of the front doors.
The infotainment supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fast wireless smartphone charger, and USB-C ports for charging, while the second and third rows also feature USB-C chargers.
In addition to the 14-speaker Meridian surround audio system, ambient mood lights are applied at the front and rear armrests and top of the map pocket to provide different lighting functions.
The first EV9 is also the first to feature fourth-generation battery technology designed for improved energy density.
The EV9’s powertrain is powered by a high-voltage battery pack of 99.8kWh, paired with dual electric motors that delivers 380hp and 700Nm of torque to all wheels.
Range is estimated at 505km and the EV9 can be fully charged in 10 hours and 30 minutes using 11kW AC power.
With 350kW DC, the EV9 gets charged from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes.
Its Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) charging system enables the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which is capable of discharging energy from the vehicle battery.
The V2L function can supply up to 3.6kWh of power and is capable of operating lifestyle electronic accessories.
Standard safety features include 10 SRS airbags (Front Driver & Passenger, Driver Knee, Side, Curtain and Centre Side), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system which automatically provides a warning and locks the door if an approaching vehicle from the rear side is detected within the blindspot.
Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), ISOFIX Child Restraint Anchor Points and Top Tethers as well as Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and 285/45/R21 tyres also come as standard.
Its advanced safety features are High Beam Assist (HBA), Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Assist (RCCA), which detects oncoming vehicles approaching from either side when reversing out of a tight parking spot.
In addition, there are also the Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA2) with Junction Turning (JT), Junction Crossing (JX), Lane-Change Oncoming (LCO), Direct Oncoming (DO), Lane-Change Side (LCS), Driving Steering Assist (DSA) and Auto Evasive Steering Assist (ESA), which provides preventive safety when navigating through junctions.
Completing the Advanced Driver Assisted System features are the Lane Following Assist (LFA2) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC).
Manufacturer warranty is five years or 150,000km, whichever comes first while the battery warranty coverage is up to eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.
