All-new Jaecoo J7 launched from RM138,800
By JAY WONG | 19 July 2024KUALA LUMPUR: Jaecoo Malaysia has officially launched the J7 premium sports utility vehicle (SUV), its first model in the country.
The locally assembled C-segment model is aimed at established competitors and comes in two variants of two-wheel-drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD).
The 2WD variant has been priced on-the-road without insurance at RM138,800 while the range-topping AWD variant goes for RM148,800.
Deliveries have been slated to begin within the first week of August.
For colours, there are four choices such as Moonlight Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White and Model Green.
A seven-year or 150,000km warranty has been provided as standard.
An early bird package is available from now until July 21 for the first 300 buyers who will receive a 10-year or 1,000,000km warranty.
During this period, those opting for the 2WD variant will have its standard 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit upgraded to a larger 14.8-inch screen that's found in the AWD variant.
Regardless of screen size, they support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The J7 has a length of 4,500mm, width of 1,865mm, height of 1,680mm and wheelbase of 2,672mm.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine producing 194hp and 290Nm of torque - all managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
The drive modes include All-Road Drive Intelligent System (ARDIS) which detects the situation and reacts accordingly
Among the standard inclusions for the J7 are the pop-out door handles, full-LED front (with chequered-flag day-time running lights with integrated dynamic turn signals) and rear lights.
The J7 also comes with 19-inch aluminium alloy wheels, ventilated disc brakes with red callipers, front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension.
Other than Eco, Sport and Normal driving modes of the 2WD variant, the AWD variant adds seven modes on Sand, Mud, Snow and Off-Road.
Inside, the driver gets a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a jet fighter joystick-like gear selector.
Also included is an all-terrain Wide-Heads Up Display (W-HUD), a 540-degree camera system that provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle, including the undercarriage's road conditions.
Furthermore, there are eight airbags, a 50W wireless charger with an air-cooling vent, 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, dual-zone climate controls with rear vents (with independent controls), powered front seats and powered tailgate for the 424-litre boot – expandable to 1,349 litres, among others.
"Jaecoo is well positioned as a challenger SUV brand that meets the market’s appetite for attainable luxury," said Jaecoo Malaysia vice-president Emily Lek.
Lek added that the brand now has an independent assembly plant and parts warehouse to support its fast-growing network of premium dealerships.
"We’re very excited for our customers to start enjoying the complete Jaecoo ownership experience today,” concluded Lek.
