PETALING JAYA: Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd, the sole local distributor of the Xpeng (pronounced ex ph'ng) brand, has introduced its first model – the all-electric Xpeng G6.
Dubbed an "ultra smart coupe SUV," the G6 is now available for booking and comes in two variants of 580 Pro and 755 Pro.
The 580 Pro comes with on-the-road without insurance price of RM165,820 for private ownership in Peninsular Malaysia while the G6 755 Pro costs RM185,820.
Featuring a stylish crossover bodystyle with short front and rear overhangs, the G6 also has a low centre of gravity for better driving dynamics and control.
Its steel and lightweight aluminium body structure provides robust safety protection at a lower weight.
The mid-size G6 is the first model built on the modern next-generation SEPA 2.0 platform that also offers comfort and interior space.
The SEPA technology brings more advanced architectural solutions, aiming for Xpeng to meet diverse consumers’ needs in optimising R&D, development efficiency and optimised cost.
The 580 Pro variant uses a 66kWh high-voltage Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) that enables a travelling range up to 435km, an output of 255hp with 440Nm of torque, 0-100kph sprint in 6.6 seconds and top speed of 200kph.
Meanwhile, 755 Pro variant features a 87.5kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) for the longer range of 570km, an output 282hp with 440Nm of torque, a 0-100kph dash of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 200kph.
Suspension of this rear-wheel-driven vehicle consists of front double wishbone and rear multi-link-type.
Aside from energy-saving attributes and a cutting-edge thermal management system, the G6's 800-volt high-voltage silicon carbide (SiC) platform also supports superfast DC charging.
The maximum DC charging capacity is 215kW for the 580 Pro variant and 280kW for the 755 Pro.
Using DC rapid charging, the G6 can be charged from 10% to 80% within 20 minutes for both variants.
With 11kw AC, the 580 Pro can be charged from 5% to 100% in 7.5 hours and the 755 Pro in 9.5 hours.
The interior uses Xpeng's "Simplicity" design philosophy that creates a spacious cabin with generous leg and head room for all.
The G6 has a length of 4,753mm, width of 1,920mm, height of 1,650mm and a wheelbase of 2,890mm.
Trunk space can be increased from 571 litres to 1,374 litres.
Eco-friendly materials are also used with seat ventilation and heating (cushion and headrest), six-way power adjustments, and four-way lumbar support with position memory and Welcome Mode for front occupants.
Seats for rear passengers are also equipped with heating.
Also equipped are leatherette upholstery in black or grey, dual 50W wireless charging pads, dual temperature zone automatic air conditioning vent and XFreeBreath air purification system.
Its upgraded Xmart OS 5.0 in-car operating system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chipset and leverages multi-sensor software and hardware platforms to enhance driver and vehicle interaction.
Its 14.96-inch high-resolution central control system is intuitive to use while the instrument cluster is a 10.2-inch digital-type.
The Intelligent Voice Assistant features an interactive avatar and voice profile featuring a human-like image and refined voice quality.
The Xpeng mobile app enables drivers to control the vehicle remotely through Smart Vehicle Control.
The infotainment system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can be updated via periodic Over-the-Air (OTA) and is designed to be future-proof.
The 18-speaker 960W XOpera surround audio system delivers panoramic sound effect and uses Xpeng’s self-developed acoustic algorithm for an immersive sound experience.
Standard safety features includes seven airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold Function Hill Descent Control (HDC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Seat Belt Reminder, Child Restraint Anchor Points (ISOFIX), Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) and electronic child lock.
Its advanced XPILOT 2.5 advanced driver assistance system is equipped with high-definition millimetre-wave radar, ultrasonic radar and a 360-degree HD camera powered by Nvidia Orin-X chipset which also enables panoramic traffic surrounding view.
Other features of the advanced driver assistance system are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, Lane Centering Control (LCC), Active Lane Change (ALC), Enhanced Auto Parking Assist (EAP 2.0), Auto Exit Parking Assist (AEP) via Xpeng mobile app, Straight Summon via Xpeng mobile app, Driver State Monitoring (DSM), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent High Beam (IHB), Blind-spot Detection (BSD), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Rear Collision Warning (RCW).
The available colours for the G6 are Midnight Black, Silver Frost, Artic White, Graphite Gray and Fiery Orange.
The manufacturer warranty is five years or 120,000km, whichever comes first.
Also included is an 8-Years High Voltage Battery Pack warranty with a mileage limit of 160,000km, whichever comes first.
The company is also offering a single-phase 7kW AC charger with installation at RM4,300 and a three-phase 11kW AC charger with installation at RM5,000.
Xpeng, founded in Guangzhou, China in 2014, is a leading Chinese intelligent EV maker that designs, develops, manufactures and markets its products.
The G6 is Xpeng's the fifth model and introduced at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) in April last year.
