All-electric Aion ES arrives at RM106,800


KUALA LUMPUR: WTC Automotif Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd and sole distributor of GAC Aion electric vehicles (EVs) brand, has officially launched the Aion ES all-electric sedan.

Utilising the brand's latest Aion Electric Platform (AEP) 2.0, the ES is being marketed as an affordable EV sedan that's said to provide exceptional value to owners.

Priced at RM106,800 (on-the-road without insurance), three exterior colour options are available, including Pure White, Glamour Black and Holographic Silver.

For peace-of-mind, the ES gets an eight-year or 160,000km coverage which includes an eight-year or 200,000km warranty for the battery, Drive Motor and Electric Control warranty.

In conjunction with its official launch, buyers will also receive a complementary 7kW Home Wallbox Charger worth RM3,500.

The ES comes with LED headlights and rear light clusters, powered tailgate, 17-inch alloys and a 450-litre boot.

Its 55.2kWh Magazine Battery 2.0 is the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type which is touted to deliver up to 442km of range.

The battery can be recharged via a 6.6kW AC and accept a faster 60kW DC charger.

The vehicle's electric motor can be found under the front hood and provides the front wheels with 136PS and 225Nm and comes with i-Pedal single-pedal driving function.

Inside, the cabin provides owners with a rotary gear knob, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, six-way driver seat adjustment, 3.5-inch LCD instrument cluster, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control with built-in PM2.5 air filter and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay.

For safety, the ES comes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Hill-Hold Control (HHC), Electric Parking Braking (EPB) with Autohold function and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as standard.

Meanwhile, SAIC also announced that the company has established a network of 21 new showrooms and service centres nationwide over the last 12 months, with more promised to become operational in the near future.

Also on display was the brand's Hyper HT, with its special rear gullwing doors.

The company intends to provide two variants - gullwing and regular door versions, and is likely to formally introduce it in Malaysia sometime in the next second quarter.

Also on display was the GAC M8 luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that will make use of a 2.0-litre turbocharged plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system.

The seven-seater M8's all-electric range is said to be up to 120km on full charge.

Two variants will likely arrive - a Premium and Premium Luxury - with unofficial prices expected to range from RM300,000 to RM400,000.
