PETALING JAYA: What would mobility be like in the future? Brazilian aerospace conglomerate Embraer attempts to answer that question with a car-aircraft hybrid it calls the Pulse Concept.
Inspired by the first-ever concept car — Harley Earl’s Buick Y-Job from 1938 — the Pulse seems to be a road-going vehicle and flying machine of the future.
It is, however, an autonomous ground vehicle and its pod houses the control cockpit and passengers seats. It takes off vertically in aircraft mode.

The pod is made mostly of glass and a transparent alloy metal that serves as interactive communication panels. Inside passengers are envisaged to relax in a spacious lounge-like setting with fantastic 360 degree views of the outside as they are whizzed off to their destination.
Embraer S.A. is an aerospace company that produces commercial, military, executive and agricultural aircraft and provides aeronautical services. The Sao Paulo-based company celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
