Adaptive Matrix LED headlights are debuting on these motorcycles

PARIS: Yamaha is introducing an adaptive Matrix LED headlight system on its Tracer 9 GT motorcycle range, automatically adjusting the brightness in real time to improve nighttime visibility without dazzling other road users.

This technology, which already exists in the automotive sector, comes as a first for motorcycles.

The Japanese manufacturer is launching these intelligent lights on its new 2025 Tracer 9 GT and GT+ motorcycle models.

This system automatically adjusts the brightness and distribution of the light beam according to riding conditions. The idea is both to optimize visibility and avoid dazzling other road users.

The system uses a matrix of LEDs, combining low and high beams, coupled with a camera integrated on the front of the motorcycle, which detects surrounding traffic, natural light sources and weather conditions to adapt the bike's lighting in real time.

This technology simultaneously detects traffic, natural light levels and weather conditions, automatically adjusting the brightness of the lights according to road conditions.

What's more, the system adapts the lighting to the angle of the motorcycle's inclination, improving illumination when cornering. All in all, the system increases rider confidence when riding at night and reduces eyestrain, without bothering other road users.

Yamaha has thus drawn on technology already tried and tested in the automotive industry to offer bikers an ever more comfortable riding experience.

The Tracer 9 GT and GT+ (featuring more advanced technologies and additional features) are due to arrive in dealerships in spring 2025.
