PETALING JAYA: Commuters will enjoy a 50% toll discount from March 28 to 29 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
In a statement issued today, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that this was agreed by the Cabinet.
He said that the toll discount would cost the Madani government an estimated RM19.69mil as compensation payments to all toll concessionaires.
“The toll discount will be implemented from 12:01 AM on March 28 (Friday) until 11:59 PM on March 29 (Saturday).
“This toll discount applies only to Class 1 private vehicles at all toll plazas, except at border toll plazas, namely Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Toll on the North-South Expressway (Plus) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway (Linkedua).
“This initiative continues the festive toll relief program introduced by the Madani government in 2023 for all four major festive seasons in Peninsular Malaysia.
“It aligns with the core principles of the government - well-being and compassion—aimed at easing the cost of living for the people.
“All highway users are encouraged to take full advantage of this toll discount and plan their journeys wisely to avoid traffic congestion during this long holiday,” said Nanta Linggi.
He advised highway users to follow the travel time advisory by the highway concessionaires to avoid congestion.
“Ensure that vehicles are in good condition, maintain sufficient eWallet balance and Touch 'n Go card balance and check that the SmartTAG battery is fully charged,” said Nanta Linggi.
He said that highway users should also make use of the CCTV display links provided by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) at www.llm.gov.my for real-time highway conditions before and during travel.
“The Works Ministry, Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), and highway concession companies urge all road users to drive safely, obey traffic rules, and take breaks if feeling tired or drowsy. Let us work together to maintain safety, cleanliness, and comfort on the highways while reducing accidents,” said Nanta Linggi.
The LLM Traffic Management Center at 1-800-88-7752 for the latest traffic updates or assistance while on the highway.
