Touch 'n Go eWallet adds SOS reload feature to prevent users from getting stuck at tolls
By THE STAR | 21 January 2025PETALING JAYA: The Touch 'n Go (TNG) eWallet has unveiled a new feature called SOS Balance, which aims to prevent users from being caught at toll plazas due to insufficient balance in their accounts.
The feature, intended to work at Touch 'n Go RFID and PayDirect-enabled toll plazas, will activate if a user does not have enough balance in their ewallet, automatically covering the toll payment.
Do note that not all highways currently support the feature. A full list of highways that do is available via an FAQ page on the TNG Digital website.
Once this happens, users will then have a 24-hour grace period to repay the SOS Balance amount. Failure to do so will result in the feature then being suspended.
Those who do not pay back the outstanding amount within the grace period will also be unable to make payments or purchases within the ewallet until they reload.
Users can choose to pay the exact amount within the app or have the amount automatically deducted from their new balance upon reload.
However, it's important to note that the SOS Balance feature is available only to select users. The app states that users should clear pending payments on time, regularly reload their eWallet, and actively use the TNG eWallet app to be eligible.
