The first batch of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid produced at TCMH's factory here will be shipped to Thailand this month.
TCMH chief executive officer Daniel Ho Wai Ming said the new achievement underscored the strength of the local automotive group's collaboration with Nissan Motor Co Ltd.
"We are deeply appreciative of the ongoing support and guidance from Nissan, as well as the strategic backing from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute," he said.
Ho also said the achievement reflected the success of Malaysia’s National Automotive Policy in strengthening local manufacturing capabilities.
"We are excited about expanding our export portfolio, and further solidifying Malaysia’s position as a key automotive hub in Asean," he said.
Nissan Motor Co chief brand and customer officer and MC-Japan-Asean chairperson Asako Hoshino said the successful export of the Serena to Thailand represented a significant step in the partnership with Tan Chong Motor.
"We are excited to see Tan Chong's growing role as an export hub. This collaboration highlights our shared vision for Nissan’s growth in Malaysia.
"Nissan and our partner aim to keep growing our footprint and making more contribution to Malaysian society," Hoshino said.

The globally-recognised standards ensure that each vehicle meets Nissan’s high expectations for reliability and innovation, setting a strong foundation for the export readiness of the Serendah plant.
The Serendah plant started operations in 2007 and is TCMH's key production facility.
It has been certified ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management and recently integrated a Floating Large-Scale Solar Photovoltaic (LSSPV) system to enhance its sustainability profile.
