Road ban on goods vehicles two days before and after Raya
By THE STAR | 10 March 2025KAJANG: Goods vehicles will be banned from roads for four days in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated at a press conference today that the ban would be enforced on March 29 and 30, as well as on April 5 and 6.
“The purpose of the ban is to prevent congestion and reduce the risk of road accidents caused by the mix of goods vehicles and private cars,” he said.
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will also conduct the 2025 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Ops nationwide from March 24 to April 8.
“The operations are aimed to survey, trace and take action on road users that have broken the law and road rules in place,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said that companies that have vehicles involved in accidents would be audited.
“This is what we are trying to practise. Many companies have not offered or stressed safety courses for their drivers.
“We want to change that so that everyone obeys safety aspects. The law is already there, but we want to stress compliance.
“Now it’s SOP when lorries are involved in accidents, the companies will be audited. If they do not pass, their operations will be suspended,” he said, adding that hundreds of companies were suspected last year.
At the same time, the minister said that they were still waiting for the allocation for body cameras.
He added that the cameras would be in place by this year.
