Mercedes-Benz organises biggest driving campaign for employees
By CARSIFU | 03 October 2024STUTTGART: Mercedes-Benz is on its way to a net-carbon-neutral new vehicle fleet by 2039. The company already offers a wide range of fully electric vehicles.
With the "Get in!" campaign, the company is offering its employees the opportunity to test drive selected models.
Participants can gain insights into the current model range during working hours and test the driving behaviour of the all-electric vehicles as well as the various driver assistance systems for themselves in traffic.
"Get in!" is the biggest driving campaign for employees at Mercedes-Benz to date.
A total of around 27,000 employees will have taken part in test drives at the company's sites in Germany, Poland and Hungary by the end of the campaign.
"You have to experience e-mobility for yourself. This is true for our customers, but even more so for our team. Anyone who has ever driven an electric Mercedes knows how much emotion there is in our electric vehicles. That's exactly what we want to achieve with 'Get in!'." said Jörg Burzer, member of board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG (Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management).
Around 10,000 test drive slots are currently available at the Untertürkheim, Sindelfingen, Rastatt and Bremen sites.
These take place in groups of five vehicles, with two participants each, and an accompanying vehicle with instructors who provide in-depth insights into the respective EQ models as well as valuable driving tips.
The fleet consists of the Mercedes-Benz EQA, EQB, EQE, EQS, EQE SUV and EQS SUV models.
"Get in!" was launched last year in order to offer employees who are directly involved in the production of vehicles and components the opportunity to test drive fully electric Mercedes-Benz models, with targeted offers for employees in production.
More than 17,000 employees at 10 European locations have taken advantage of the company's offer. For almost two thirds of the participants, it was the first time they had ever driven in a fully electric Mercedes-Benz model.
Due to the highly positive feedback, the range of available models was expanded in 2024 and the campaign was opened to all employees at the participating locations.
In order to be able to experience the all-electric vehicles at home, up to 20 vehicles will be raffled off each week among all participants for use over an entire weekend.
"Testing our all-electric vehicles ourselves inspires one thing above all else in our employees: enthusiasm, which you can easily see from the beaming faces of the participants. And this is precisely the source of the passion with which the Mercedes-Benz team works every day. That's why test drives are a valuable investment in the success of our company," said Sabine Kohleisen, member of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG (Human Resources and Labour Director).
At the same time, the company is systematically laying the foundations for a net-carbon-neutral new vehicle fleet by 2039.
The company expects the global share of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in new car sales to reach up to 50% in the second half of this decade.
