MAA and MARii agree deal to alternate auto shows

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) to work together on organising automotive exhibitions and motor shows on an alternate-year basis.

The collaboration introduces an alternate-year hosting schedule from 2025 to 2028, with MARii continuing to host the Malaysia Autoshow, while MAA will organise the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Showcase.

MAA president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain said that this approach ensures impactful, innovative events that reflect the latest industry advancements while preventing an overload of automotive events in the same year.

"It optimises resources and offers industry stakeholders greater flexibility for planning and preparation.

"By consolidating efforts, MARii and MAA aim to revolutionise Malaysia’s motor show industry by creating a unified platform that highlights cutting-edge automotive technologies, promoting industry collaboration, and enhancing public engagement,” he said at the signing ceremony today.

Mohd Shamsor highlighted that the alternate-year approach ensures each event is distinct, impactful, and aligned with the latest industry advancements, providing stakeholders adequate time and flexibility to prepare high-quality exhibits and offerings.

MARii chief executive officer Azrul Reza Aziz said the partnership was a milestone for the local automotive industry.

"By aligning MARii and MAA’s strengths, we adopt a unified, strategic approach to organising automotive exhibitions."
