JPJ recalls over 41,000 vehicles from six brands for defects


PETALING JAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has recalled 41,688 vehicles from six brands namely Audi, Ford, Honda, Kia, MAN TGS and Mercedes for defect checks.

It said the recall activity was important to prevent accidents due to structural, equipment and system defects in these vehicles.

"Every owner of the vehicle will be contacted by the manufacturer to coordinate their respective inspection slots," said the department in a statement today.

"As such all owners of the vehicles are requested to plan the recall process to ensure that the inspection process can be carried out as soon as possible.

The department said the costs of any component change will be borne by the respective manufacturer.

It said for more information on the recall, owners could get in touch or visit their nearest respective car manufacturers.

"JPJ will monitor the recall process and is committed to ensuring all the vehicles involved will undergo inspection and be certified safe," it added.
