PETALING JAYA: Honda Malaysia sold 11,300 units of the CR-V sports utility vehicle (SUV) last year, propelling the nameplate to the best selling mid-size SUV of 2024.
The sixth generation CR-V also secured a 36% market share in its segment.
The CR-V is Honda Malaysia's flagship model and is the third top-selling model in the company's lineup.
The premium SUV is available in four variants of S, E, V and e:HEV RS and priced from RM159,900 to RM195,900.
Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Hironobu Yoshimura said the current generation CR-V was launched in December 2023 and has received strong market acceptance.
He said the growing demand for the CR-V is reflected in its remarkable 40% year-on-year growth in its segment.
"The introduction of the 2.0L e:HEV RS variant has energised the market and exceeded our expectations with a 20% contribution to the overall CR-V sales.
"In addition, within the mid-size SUV hybrid segment, the 2.0L e:HEV RS holds a commanding 87% market share.
"This highlights the market’s positive response to Honda’s advanced hybrid technology, even with the highly competitive landscape.
“The petrol variants have also performed exceptionally well, with the E variant emerging as the top choice among customers, accounting for 40% of total CR-V sales," he said.
The S, E and V variants of the CR-V comes with an advanced 1.5L VTEC turbo engine that delivers a maximum power of 193PS and a peak torque of 243Nm.
The V variant comes with an advanced Real Time AWD to help drivers maintain control on difficult road conditions.
Meanwhile, the e:HEV RS top variant comes with a new generation 2.0L hybrid powertrain which generates 335Nm of torque and an output of 184PS for a smooth and quiet performance with high fuel efficiency.
Overall, the CR-V projects a striking road presence along with generous interior space, premium features and upmarket ambiance.
Complementing its modern and sophisticated exterior are the unique Front Grille with a bold Mesh Pattern, Full LED Headlights and Tail-Lights, and Front LED Sequential Turn Signals.
Features include a 589-litre cargo space that is expandable to 1,072 litres, Hands-Free Power Tailgate with Walkaway Close, Honda CONNECT and an upgraded Honda SENSING advanced driver assistance system.
In addition to the Interior Ambient Lighting and a 360-degree camera system in the V variant and above, the range-topping e:HEV RS variant is equipped with the additional Active Cornering Lights, Active Shutter Grille, Bose Premium Sound System with 12 speakers, a 10.2-inch TFT meter cluster and Adaptive Driving Beam.
