Honda creates 'Silveriest Silver' colour to mark 25 years of hybrid in Europe

LONDON: Honda has unveiled a special edition Civic e:HEV painted in an exclusive “Silveriest Silver” colour, celebrating 25 years since launching Europe’s first hybrid model, the Insight, in 1999.

The one-off paint job, created by artist Stuart Semple, uses 64% real silver flakes and achieves a high-metallic finish.

Semple, known for his vibrant pigments, worked with Honda, delivering the custom paint through his Culture Hustle studio.

Once mixed, the paint was handed to The Syrup Room, a fabrication specialist in the UK, where experts prepared and sprayed multiple layers on the Civic’s body over three days.

“Today, Honda offers a fully electrified range, predominantly featuring our e:HEV technology, making the Silveriest Civic a fitting tribute to our achievements,” said Honda Europe’s Nik Pearson.

The 11th-generation Civic e:HEV, launched in 2022, features Honda’s latest e:HEV hybrid powertrain, which includes a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine, two electric motors, and a lithium-ion battery.

The Civic joins Honda’s electrified lineup alongside models such as the Jazz, HR-V and CR-V.

Honda’s hybrid journey will continue with future models, including the iconic Prelude, which is set to return with a petrol-electric powertrain.
